Start with a stack of books
My first standing desk was a stack of books.
Few changes have improved my life and my work as much as switching to a standing desk. I didn't have the proper setup at first, so I improvised: a tower of books under my monitor, and two more holding up my keyboard and mouse.
I have a much better setup now — but the improvement was the same from day one.
My posture got much better. I'm more active throughout the day. And I procrastinate much less while I work.
That's the real lesson: don't wait for things to be perfect to start. A stack of books worked just fine.
What's something you started before you had the "right" setup?
